بيان رابطة القلم الدولي في الأردن حول اغتيال الإعلامية الفلسطينية شيرين أبو عاقلة
تستنكر رابطة القلم الدولي في الأردن جريمة اغتيال الصحفية الفلسطينية شيرين أبو عاقلة، مراسلة قناة الجزيرة في فلسطين، واستهدافها من قبل قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي أثناء قيامها بتغطية اقتحام الجيش الإسرائيلي لمخيم جنين صباح يوم الأربعاء الموافق الحادي عشر من شهر أيار (مايو) 2022، حيث قضت الصحفية الشجاعة نحبها بعد إصابتها برصاصة قناص إسرائيلي في الرأس. وإذ يعبر أعضاء فرع القلم في الأردن عن غضبهم واستنكارهم لهذه الجريمة البشعة التي استهدفت إعلامية شهيرة تغطي أحداث الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة منذ ما يزيد على عشرين عامًا، بنزاهة ومهنية عالية، فإنها تطالب بفتح تحقيق دولي في هذه الجريمة، وتحمل دولة إسرائيل المحتلة وجيشها المسؤولية كاملة عن اغتيال أبو عاقلة.
إن هذه الجريمة تدين الاحتلال الإسرائيلي لفلسطين، وتكشف انتهاكه لشرعة حقوق الإنسان، والاتفاقيات الدولية التي تحمي الصحفيين وتجرّم استهدافهم في مناطق النزاعات والحروب.
وإننا، إذ نعزي أهل شيرين أبو عاقلة والأسرة الإعلامية في فلسطين والعالم، ونستذكر شجاعتها غير العادية في أداء واجبها المهني في نقل الحقيقة إلى العالم، لندعو منظمة القلم الدولي، وفروعها في بلدان العالم المختلفة، إلى إدانة هذه الجريمة البشعة، والدعوة إلى حماية الصحفيين وأصحاب الرأي من استهدافهم ومحاولة إخراس أصواتهم.
Statement by PEN Jordan on the assassination of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh
PEN Jordan condemns the assassination of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, Al-Jazeera correspondent in Palestine, and her targeting by the Israeli occupation forces while she was covering the incursion of the Israeli army into the Jenin camp on Wednesday morning, the eleventh of May 2022. The brave journalist died immediately after being shot in the head by an Israeli sniper.
As members of PEN Jordan express their anger and denunciation of this heinous crime, which targeted a famous journalist who covered the occupied Palestinian territories for more than two decades, with integrity and high professionalism, they demand the opening of an international investigation into this crime, and hold the occupying State of Israel and its army fully responsible for the crimes. This crime exposes Israel’s violation of the human rights charter and international conventions that protect journalists and criminalize their targeting in areas of conflict and war.
As we send our condolences to the family of Shireen Abu Akleh and the media family in Palestine and the world, and recall her extraordinary courage in carrying out her professional duty in conveying the truth to the world, we call upon International PEN, and its various centres in the world, to condemn this heinous crime and call for the protection of journalists and intellectuals from being targeted and trying to silence their voices.
